A New Sunrise

Lila and her older brother Mateo woke up while it was still dark. Today was special. Their grandmother had told them, “Every sunrise is new, and God sometimes shows us something beautiful, if we are paying attention.”

So they quietly slipped outside and walked to their favorite hill, where they could see the whole sky.

The world was still and silent. The air felt cool, and the stars were just beginning to fade.

“Do you think we’ll really see something?” Mateo whispered.

Lila shrugged. “Grandma said to trust and watch.”

At the top of the hill stood an old wooden garden gate. Behind it was a small patch of land where flowers used to grow around a small cross that stood quietly, but after a long winter, everything looked dry and lifeless.

“It’s kind of sad,” Mateo said. “Nothing grows there anymore.”

“Maybe not yet,” Lila said.

They sat nearby and waited.

Slowly, the sky began to change, purple to pink to gold. The sun rose, and its warm light spilled over the hill.

Just then, something strange happened.

The old garden gate, which had been stuck shut for months, suddenly creaked… and slowly swung open on its own.

Lila and Mateo stared.

At the same moment, a bright light shone inside the garden, brighter than the sunrise. Where the ground had been dull and brown, tiny green shoots were pushing through the soil.

Then they saw it, at first a single white flower opening near the cross right before their eyes.

“What was dead…” Mateo whispered.

“Is now alive,” Lila said, her voice full of wonder.

A gentle thought entered Lila’s mind: “Do not be afraid. Like on Easter, joy and hope come alive. Go and share the news.”

The light faded, but the garden was no longer empty. It was full of life with even more white flowers.

Lila jumped up. “We have to tell everyone!”

They ran down the hill, their hearts bursting with excitement.

On the path, they saw their friend Daniel.

“Daniel!” they shouted.

He grinned. “Hi. What’s up?”

Lila laughed. “Everything is coming back to life today!”

As they told their family and friends about the garden, the open gate, and the flower, everyone felt something special, like hope was waking up inside them too, after a long winter.

And from that day on, whenever Lila saw the sunrise, she remembered: what seems lost is not gone forever. With God, new life is always possible.

Moral: God brings new life where there was once sadness or loss. Like on Easter, His presence is real and meant to be shared.
