Jesus the Storyteller

A long time ago, Jesus would tell special stories. People came from everywhere to listen, and children sat at his feet. They wanted to learn about God, and Jesus often told them stories called parables.

One day, a boy asked, “Jesus, why do you tell stories instead of just giving us answers?”

Jesus smiled and said, “Stories help you understand. They stay in your heart and help you remember what is important.”

Then he began a story: “Once, there was a boy who asked his father for his share of the inheritance…”

The people listened as Jesus told about a son who spent all his money on silly things. When he had nothing left, he decided to go back and say sorry. His father was so happy to see him, he ran to hug him and threw a big party!

The boy asked, “Why did the father forgive him? He made bad choices.”

Jesus explained, “The father in the story is like God. No matter what we do, God always forgives us if we are sorry and come back to Him.”

The boy smiled, understanding. “So, God always loves us?”

“Yes,” said Jesus. “That’s why I tell stories—so you can learn about God’s love.”

From that day on, the boy remembered that God’s love is always there, ready to forgive and welcome us home.
