Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
The day grew dim, the sun sank low,
The breeze began to softly blow.
The disciples climbed into their boat
And watched it gently rock and float.
“Row across,” their Teacher said.
“I’ll meet you there. Go on ahead.”
So off they went across the sea,
As calm and brave as they could be.
But soon the wind began to roar.
The waves grew bigger than before.
The boat bounced up! The boat dropped down!
Each face now wore a worried frown.
They pulled the oars with all their might
Through the dark and stormy night.
Then someone cried, “Look over there!
There’s someone walking through the air!”
The figure came across the sea,
As calm as calm could ever be.
Then came a voice so warm and clear,
“Take heart, my friends. There’s no need to fear.”
“It is I. Don’t be afraid.
I’m with you here. I’ve come to aid.”
Brave Peter called, “If it is You,
Tell me what You’d have me do.”
“Come,” said Jesus with a smile.
Peter stepped out for just a while.
His feet stayed safely on the sea.
“How can this amazing be?”
He walked with joy, so strong and bold,
Just as Jesus’ hand would hold.
But then he looked at waves so high,
And dark gray clouds across the sky.
The wind blew hard. He felt afraid.
His courage quickly slipped away.
He started sinking in the sea.
“Lord, save me!” cried desperately.
At once, dear Jesus reached His hand.
He helped His friend again to stand.
Together to the boat they came,
And suddenly the sea grew tame.
The wind grew still. The waves grew small.
God’s peace had quietly calmed them all.
The friends all knelt in thankful prayer.
They knew God’s Son was truly there.
Sometimes we face our storms each day,
A test at school… a game to play…
A doctor visit… moving too…
Or trying something brave and new.
The storms may look both big and wide,
Like giant waves and rushing tide.
But just like Peter long ago,
There’s something every child should know.
When fear begins to fill your heart,
That’s when your faith can truly start.
Keep your eyes on Jesus near.
He’ll hold your hand through every fear.
He’ll calm your worries, dry each tear,
For He is always, always near.
So trust His love in all you do.
He’ll never stop watching over you.
Moral: When we keep our eyes on Jesus and trust Him, He gives us courage to face every storm and is always ready to lift us up when we are afraid.
