Living Your Faith At Home – The Fourth Week of Advent
The Catholic Advent wreath features four candles, each representing one of the four Sundays of Advent and symbolizing hope, peace, joy, and love. Each Sunday, a new candle is lit, gradually increasing the light as Christmas approaches.
The four candles have a special name and meaning. Each time you light the fourth candle during the week of Advent starting on December 22, a corresponding Bible verse and prayer can be said.
The Angel’s Candle represents LOVE (purple candle). The angels shared the amazing news of Jesus’ birth, singing, “Glory to God in the highest!”
A message for the week: As Christmas gets close, we think about God’s great love for us, shown through the birth of Jesus.
Bible verse: “And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.’” – Luke 2:13-14
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for your amazing love. Help us share your love with everyone we meet. As Christmas comes, we open our hearts to you. Amen.
