The King Who Showed Love

Jesus is a very special, kind, and gentle king.  In fact, Jesus is the King of Heaven and Earth. He didn’t live in a big castle or wear a shiny crown. Instead, He walked from town to town, helping people. He made sick people better, gave food to the hungry, and told everyone that God loves them very much.

Children loved to be near Jesus. He smiled at them, listened to them, and blessed them. Jesus loved everyone—even people who had made bad choices. He wanted everyone to know God’s love.

But some people didn’t understand Jesus. They were angry and didn’t want Him to keep teaching. One of Jesus’ friends, named Judas, made a very sad choice and showed the soldiers where to find Jesus.

That night, while Jesus was praying in a quiet garden, the soldiers came. They took Him away, and His other friends got scared and ran off.

People were mean to Jesus. They hit Him and laughed at Him. They put a crown made of sharp thorns on His head. Then they put Him on a cross, even though He had done nothing wrong.

But Jesus didn’t yell or get angry. He looked at all the people and said, “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.”

Next to Jesus were two men on crosses. One man was unkind, but the other man said, “Jesus, please remember me.” Jesus looked at him with love and said, “Today you will be with me in heaven.”

After a while, Jesus died. His friends were very, very sad. They gently took His body and placed it in a quiet tomb. But this wasn’t the end of the story. Jesus’ love is so big, so strong, that it would shine again soon, as we all found out Easter morning!

Based on Luke 22:14—23:56: The moral of this story is about love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. Jesus showed us how much He loves us by giving His life for us. He also forgave those who hurt Him, teaching us that we should forgive others too.
