The Little Lamb Who Listened

In a sunny valley filled with wildflowers and soft grass, lived a young lamb named Lily. She was the smallest in her flock and often got distracted by butterflies, buzzing bees, and the way the wind danced through the trees. But what made Lily special was how closely she listened to her shepherd’s voice.

Every morning, the Good Shepherd would call out, “Come, my little ones!” His voice was calm and kind, and all the sheep would come running, including Lily—even if she was far off chasing a butterfly.

One day, while the flock was grazing near the edge of the woods, Lily heard a strange noise. It was not the voice of her shepherd, but a growly whisper that said, “Come this way… I have something exciting to show you!”

Lily froze. Her ears perked up. That voice didn’t sound gentle or safe. It didn’t feel like love. She looked around and didn’t see the shepherd, but deep inside, she remembered what his voice sounded like—strong, warm, and full of peace.

So instead of going toward the voice in the woods, Lily ran the other way, back to the flock. Just then, the Good Shepherd came over the hill and called, “Lily!” Her heart leapt with joy. She ran straight to Him, and He scooped her up in His arms.

“I’m so proud of you,” He whispered. “You heard my voice, and you followed me.”

From that day on, Lily always listened closely. She knew that when she followed the voice of her Shepherd, she was always safe and never alone.

Moral: When we learn to listen for Jesus’ voice in our hearts—through prayer, Scripture, and love—we can trust that He knows us, leads us, and will never let us go.
