The Little Lamb’s Lenten Journey

In a peaceful meadow, there lived a little lamb named Lily. She was curious and playful, always bouncing around with joy. One day, she saw the older sheep gathering together, looking thoughtful and calm.

“What’s happening?” Lily asked her mother.

“It’s the Season of Lent,” her mother explained gently. “It’s a time to prepare our hearts for Easter, just like how we prepare the fields for spring.”

Lily tilted her head. “How do we do that?”

Her mother smiled. “During Lent, we do three things: we pray, we give, and we let go of things that distract us, so we can focus on love.”

Lily thought for a moment. “I want to prepare my heart too! Can you help me?”

Her mother nodded. “Start by praying. Talk to God and listen quietly in your heart.”

Each morning, Lily found a quiet spot under a blooming tree. She closed her eyes, thanked God for the sunshine, the grass, and her family, and listened to the gentle breeze.

Next, she learned about giving. She noticed her friend Benny, a little lamb who was often hungry. Remembering her mother’s words, Lily shared her favorite clover patches with Benny. His eyes sparkled with joy as they munched together.

Lastly, Lily decided to let go of something that distracted her. She loved chasing butterflies but realized she spent so much time running that she forgot to play with her friends. So, for Lent, she chose to spend more time with others, helping and laughing together.

As the days passed and Easter approached, Lily felt her heart growing warmer and lighter. She felt closer to God and more grateful for everything around her.

Her mother nuzzled her and said, “You are preparing your heart well, Lily. You will be ready when Easter arrives.”Lily leaped through the meadow with a happy bleat, her heart full of love as she continued to pray, give, and focus on God and others.
