The Road with the Quiet Promise
Milo was a small camel who lived near a dusty road at the edge of a village. Every day, he carried baskets and listened to travelers talk about where they were going. Some people sounded excited. Others sounded worried.
One evening, as the sun slipped away, Milo felt a gentle tug in his heart. He didn’t hear a voice, but he felt sure of one thing:
“Walk this road,” the feeling said.
So Milo stepped forward.
The road was long and sometimes lonely. At night, Milo lifted his head and saw the moon shining softly. When clouds covered it, Milo felt a little scared. But each time he paused, the clouds slowly moved away, and the moon returned.
“Thank you, God,” Milo whispered. “I know you are still here.”
Along the way, Milo met a lonely sheep who had lost his flock. The sheep was so scared that it looked frozen on top of the hill. Milo encouraged the sheep to trust God as he does, and together they walked until they eventually found the flock resting by a stream.
Milo recalled that as he walked with the lost sheep, his steps felt lighter.
After many days, the road led Milo to a quiet hill with green grass and warm sunshine. Families were gathered there, laughing and sharing food. Children ran and played. No one hurried. No one was afraid.
A kind woman gently stroked Milo’s nose.
“You’ve come a long way,” she said.
Milo didn’t know why he had been led there—but he knew he had found what his heart was looking for.
As he rested, Milo felt something wonderful inside him. He felt peace, like a calm lake. He felt joy, like a song that wouldn’t stop. He felt hope, knowing that God had guided every step. And most of all, he felt love, shared and returned again and again.
When Milo finally stood to leave, he realized something important:
The road had never just been about where he was going.
It had been about trusting God, helping others, and letting love lead the way.
And Milo knew that wherever the road led next, God would always show the way.
