The Whisper in the Wind

In a cozy town nestled between green hills, lived a little girl named Emma. Emma loved climbing trees, playing in the meadow, and picking flowers for her mom. But sometimes, especially when the sky turned gray or things changed suddenly, Emma felt afraid—like when her best friend moved away or when thunder rolled in the night.

One afternoon, after a big storm, Emma sat by the window feeling worried. “Why do things have to change?” she whispered.

Her grandmother, who sat nearby knitting, smiled gently and said, “Do you know what Jesus once said? He told His friends that even though He had to go away for a little while, He would never leave them alone. He promised to send Someone very special—the Holy Spirit.”

Emma’s eyes grew wide. “Who’s the Holy Spirit?”

“The Holy Spirit is like a quiet helper,” Grandma explained. “He’s always with us, teaching us what is right, reminding us of God’s love, and filling our hearts with peace—even when the world feels scary.”

“Even when I feel like crying?” Emma asked.

“Especially then,” Grandma nodded. “Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Advocate—our helper and friend. And Jesus promised He would come back to us. So no matter what happens, we don’t need to be afraid. God is with us always.”

Just then, a soft breeze blew through the open window. Emma closed her eyes and smiled. She imagined the wind was the Holy Spirit, gently whispering, “Don’t be afraid. I am here.”

From that day on, whenever Emma felt scared or alone, she listened for the whisper in the wind—and remembered Jesus’ promise.

Moral: Jesus and God love us so much that they gave us the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and help us. We never have to be afraid, because God is always with us—and Jesus will come to us again.

A children’s story that reflects the message of John 14:23-29, focusing on God’s love and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
