Three Shining Lights in One Beautiful Love
Clara loved lanterns. She had small ones, tall ones, colorful ones, and plain ones. But her favorite lantern was a very special one shaped like a triangle, with three glass sides that glowed in different colors—gold, blue, and white.
One evening, Clara and her grandmother sat outside, watching the stars. She brought out her triangle lantern and lit it. All three sides shimmered with soft light, glowing together as one beautiful lantern.
“Grandma,” Clara asked, “how can God be one and also three? My teacher says He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, but I don’t really understand.”
Grandma smiled and pointed to her lantern. “That lantern of yours might help us understand. See how it has three glowing sides?”
Clara nodded. “Yes! Gold, blue, and white. But it’s still one lantern.”
“Exactly,” said Grandma. “That’s like God. One God, shining through three Persons. The golden side reminds me of the Father—strong, wise, and full of glory. The blue side is like the Son, Jesus—who came to live with us, teach us, and save us with His love. And the white side—that reminds me of the Holy Spirit, who helps us understand God and fills our hearts with peace.”
Clara watched the lantern flicker gently in the breeze. “So they’re different and the same, and work together?”
“Yes,” Grandma said. “In the Bible, Jesus told His friends that He had so much more to teach them, but they weren’t ready yet. He promised the Holy Spirit would come to guide them, speak what He hears from Jesus, and help them understand everything the Father wanted them to know.”
“So the Holy Spirit listens to Jesus, and Jesus listens to the Father?” Clara asked.
Grandpa nodded. “They never act alone. They share everything perfectly—love, truth, and light. That’s why your lantern shines so brightly—each side reflects the same flame.”
Clara hugged her lantern close and whispered, “Thank you, God, for being three shining lights in one beautiful love.”
Moral: God is one, but He reveals Himself as three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—working together in perfect love and truth to help us know and follow Him.
